The Public Hearing opened at 7:30 PM
Chairman Cary Hughes presented the budget to the public. There were several questions from the public which the Budget Committee addressed.
1. Jim Tuttle asked about communications which has a $10,000 item which will be offset by income from Temple and Lyndeborough for ambulance dispatching.
2. Spencer Brooks asked about funding for the Red Cross. We have not received a request for several years and have not funded it in the past.
3. Spencer Brooks wanted to add $1 to the Conservation Acquisition fund however it is too late. The $0 amount was voted on by the Budget Committee on 1-26-10.
4. Steve Elliott had a question on the amount for mold abatement at the town hall. The $20,000 requested will be for partial work directed at the room behind the court room.
5. Joanna Eckstrom wanted to know when the library would have the $10,000 requested. If voted at the town meeting they can have the funds 3-15-2010.
6. Jim Tuttle asked about the C/R for Ambulance Radios. The ambulance will need 30 new radios with a frequency mandated by the Feds by 2012. The committee is recommending two payments to C/R of $7,500. One this year and one next year. There is also a grant being applied for that may cover the entire $15,000.
7. Jim Tuttle asked about the status of the Fire Station addition. There are still no definite plans and the Selectmen will have to call the next meeting of that committee.
The public had no more question so Chairman Hughes asked for a motion to place the 2010 Budget of $4,328,340 on the warrant. The motion was made by Don and seconded by Joe. Vote unanimous.
