The meeting that was scheduled for January 15th was cancelled due to the weather.

The minutes of December 11th  were accepted.

Jim attended the Budget Committee meeting on Dec. 19th and again requested a budget that reflected an increase over last year’s budget because of the amenities necessary for the grounds of the cemeteries.  The Budget Committee did appropriate the funds requested.

We spent some time reviewing and making changes to our submission for the town report.  Doreece will submit it to the office.

On January 8th, Doreece received two complaints about not allowing winter burials.  Amherst, Lyndeborough, Mason, New Ipswich and Temple are some of the surrounding small towns that also do not allow winter burials.  Larger towns/cities have paved drives and equipment to allow the burials without doing damage in the cemeteries.  It can also be difficult to find a burial lot with snow on the ground.

In reviewing the Action Items we noticed some responses are due to people with questions.  Doreece will work with Jim to get the information and respond to the inquirers.

We will try to develop a plan for doing some mapping of the cemeteries at our next meeting.

Steve inquired if he needed to consult with the trustees before hiring help for the cemeteries.  The Trustees agreed he had the expertise to hire personnel without our approval.

With our work on the Rules and Regulations finished, we will be updating the cemetery deeds to reflect the changes.  Our expectation is to begin this at our next meeting.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Town Office at 7 PM.
