WILTON BOARD OF CEMETERY TRUSTEES
PO Box 83     Wilton, NH 03086

Draft Minutes of May 21, 2007

Present: All Trustees
guests: Gail Proctor, Steve Paro, Steve Elliott

The minutes of May 7, 2007 were accepted.

Concerns were heard from Gail and Steve P. about the Rules and Regulations in effect as of October 30, 2006.

They questioned the policy of no winter burials.  Our policy of no winter burials stands.  Measurement for a new lot cannot be made in winter conditions, with no upright markers such as in Laurel Hill.  The policy is “not cut in stone”, weather conditions may allow for an exception to the rule and that would be at the discretion of the trustees.

The question of no winter burials brought up the question of storage.  Towns have storage and funeral directors have this knowledge.

We had more discussion about flowers and have made the following change to the Rules and Regulations, Section IV, 4 now reads: Flowers can be placed adjacent to a monument in a sturdy flower container. When floral arrangements no longer appear respectful for cemetery grounds, they will be discarded by the Custodian of the Cemeteries.  We also added a line- Requests for consideration to alter any of the above rules can be submitted to the Wilton Cemetery Trustees.
The revised Rules and Regulations shall be posted at all the cemeteries in Wilton before Memorial Day.  Jim will laminate the copies, put them between layers of plexi-glass and post temporarily.  A permanent set-up will be discussed.

For the continuing upgrade to the cemeteries, the soils needs to be enriched, more lime is ready to be spread.

Steve Elliott wondered about repairs to monuments.  The trustees are aware that many need repairs.  We may try to include some money for this in our next budget.

The next meeting will be Monday, June 4th, 2007 at the Town Office at 7 PM.
