The meeting was called to order at the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library at 8PM. In attendance were Stanley Young, Corinne Blagbrough, Robert Chouinard, Michael Dell’Orto and Phyllis Tallarico.
Lynn Draper addressed the Commission about conserving open space. She announced that on April 12 there will a speaker, Whitney Beals, NEFF, at the Town Hall at 7 PM Mr. Beals will offer advice and suggest potential directions the Conservation Commission can take relative to open land. She encouraged the Commission to attend this meeting. Stanley Young suggested that the Conservation Commission invite people who own large tracks of land to a meeting where they can learn about this process.
After Lynn spoke, the February minutes were read and accepted.
Treasurer Michael Dell’Orto reported that he has opened an account for the House Plaque project at the Sovereign Bank here in Wilton. $1050 is in this account, money received from 15 plaque applications. He has purchased a Heritage Commission, FOR DEPOSIT ONLY stamp to you when depositing these incoming checks. Stanley has already ordered nine of these signs and will order the remaining six that have been applied for.
Corinne Blagbrough questioned the historic name of her own historic house as it was known by several names. Some discussion took place regarding this problem. There was also a discussion about some dates in question. There was no resolution to these questions at this time.
David Vincent is now researching the houses built from 1800 to 1850. He will discuss this list at the Historical Society Meeting on March 25 at 7 PM at the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library.
There was a question regarding scenic roads in Wilton. Phyllis Tallarico was put in charge of checking this list with the Historical Society’s records.
Members had been requested to read the rewritten document outlining the Commission’s responsibilities for overseeing the Four Corners Farm property before attending tonight’s meeting. Leslie was pleased with this new agreement. Corinne had some reservations.
Stanley handed out the flyer for Saving Special Places 2004, a conference sponsored by the UNH Cooperative Extension on April 17.
Brian Bart, who had been asked to research our computer needs stopped in at the meeting. He reported that for $1200 we could purchase a PC that would meet this Commission’s requirements. The CD burner and printer would be included for this price. Michael will check with Andy Roeper regarding this proposal.
