MEETING FOR MAY 24, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell'Orto, Phyllis Tallarico, Corinne Blagbrough and Nancy Clark.
The minutes from the April 27 meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer reported a balance of $1,248.87. There have been four requests for house plaques, thus far, in response to the mailing reminding home owners of the house plaque program.
Work continues on the Wilton Center marker and plaques. Mr. Bob Leonard will come from Maine to deliver the large Wilton Center plaque. The Heritage Commission plans to show him around town so he can see where his plaques are being displayed and to take him out to lunch.
The Heritage Commission has the paperwork to start the process to apply to the Planning Board for permission to erect the sign in Wilton Center on Lot C-80. Care must be taken to make sure the sign will stand on town land and not Unitarian property.
The Documentation Program continues, with technical details still being worked out to decide how best to give the public access to the documents. It was decided to start the documentation process with pre-1859 documents and, in particular, the Revolutionary War era material.
The Heritage Commission discussed how to monitor the Four Corners Farmhouse. It was suggested that a yearly photograph be taken, and this has already been done for the current year.
An article in the Nashua Telegraph
was cited which described the restoration work being done on the fine old
Victorian house on the corner of Maple and Park Streets. W-L Coop
High School students are assisting in the project. The Heritage Commission
intends to send the owners, Mr. and Mrs. McConney, a letter of commendation
for the care they are taking in this endeavor and to invite them to attend
any future Heritage Commission meeting. The Commission also plans
to
research the date of their house for the McConneys.
Stanley Young made Commission members aware of a list of books available from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m..
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Clark, Secretary
