Meeting For June 28, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell'Orto, Phyllis Tallarico and Corinne Blagbrough.
The Minutes from the May 24, 2005 meeting were approved with one correction. The Victorian house on the corner of Maple and Park Streets is owned by Chip McConney & Cynthia Rodgers (not Mr. & Mrs. McConney).
The Treasurer reported a balance of $963.87 which included the payment for 5 new plaques. The Wilton Center plaque must still be paid for. About 52 plaques have been sold so far out of about 100 eligible houses.
The Wilton Center sign is not finished yet. It still needs a Building permit and Site plan to be reviewed by the Town before it can be installed. It is to be placed near the Peterson's' property, but on Town land. Since signs in town are a problem it was discussed as to whether the Heritage Commission could represent a property owner when going before the Planning Board. A new sign for the Town Pound was also discussed.
The Davisville sign will be the next one to be done, but its possible location still needs to be discussed and determined. Other sign locations to be considered were Main Street, the Mills, Gray's Corner, French Village, Russell Hill Bridge. There was a brief discussion about speaking to the Main Street Assn. to see it they would like the share the cost of some of the signs. A future map of Wilton would locate the signs.
Documentation and scanning of old records were also discussed. Work must be done to organize the material, put it on the computer and then eventually onto the Town's web site.
Congratulations were extended to Nancy Clark on the publication of her new book ,"A Way From Home".
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.
Corinne Blagbrough, Acting Secretary
