SELECTMEN’S MINUTES

Date:  May 17, 2004
Time:  7:00 pm
Place:  Town Office
Present: Selectmen Jerry Greene, Chair, Robert MacFarland and Daniel Donovan, III
And Reporting Secretary Peggy Arn

1) The Board discussed the deadline date for a response to a letter issued and the letter was not acknowledged.  The Board agreed to have Town Attorney Little issue a court petition for a 20 day response time to address the problem.
2) The Board discussed the issue of finding a candidate for the Health Officer vacancy.  They agreed that a job description and a request for volunteers be posted on the town  website.
3) Selectman MacFarland reported to the Board that he had attended an ambulance board meeting.  The Board agreed that if Temple could get more volunteers, they would ask MACC Base to do the toning and charged on per call basis.  A letter will be sent to the MACC base Board of Governors to this effect.
4) Two Timber Tax Bills were reviewed and signed.
5) One Intent to Cut Application was signed.
6) An amendment to the performance bond for York River, LLC was approved and signed.
7) One Veterans Credit application was reviewed and signed.
8) The bills and payroll for the week ending May 15, 2003 were approved.
9)  The correspondence and informational material was reviewed.
10) The Board received a letter of complaint and a request to investigate what materials are burned in the incinerator at the Recycling Center.  The Board reviewed the State Permit to Operate and Compliance Stack Test Reports from the incinerator that are required by DES for the permit to operate.  The test results were that they were within DES requirements.  The Manager of the Recycling Center will be asked to consult with NE Resource Recovery Association to review materials presently being burned.
11) Selectman Greene informed the Board that he had been asked by Stanley Young from the Library if the Highway Department could help them by cutting a few dead branches from a large elm tree in from of the Library.  After discussing how it could be done, it was agreed that TDS would be asked to volunteer their bucket truck and the Highway Department will be asked to cut the limbs.
12) Mr. Greene also informed the Board that Milford Police Department is changing the way our Police Officers are paid for details.  Milford previously paid the officers directly.  Now they are asking our Police Department to pay the officers and bill the company that hires them for details.
13) The minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 8:45 pm.
