TOWN OF WILTON
SELECTMEN’S MINUTES

Date:  January 9, 2006
Time:  7:00 pm
Place:  Town Office
Present: Selectmen Daniel Donovan III, Chair, and David Glines and Recording Secretary Peggy Arn

1) Maurice Guay attended the meeting to discuss charges at the Recycling Center.  He informed the Board that he is paying twice what he is charging for propane tanks.  He is presently paying $20 to dispose of a propane tank.  Selectman Glines suggested he make up a schedule of charges and Board will review it.

2) Steve Elliott attended the meeting to inform the Board on the status of the heating system at the town hall.  We are still waiting for CD Boiler to come to the town hall and analyze the valve problem.  Steve explained that the thermostat that controls the heat in the theater needs to be moved to the court room.  Steve’s question to the Board was should we wait for CD Boiler to fix the valves or do we find another boiler repair company.  It was agreed that we will try to wait for CD Boiler and that we set up a regular maintenance program with them in the future.

3) Steve then informed the Board that he had been doing research on purchasing used MACK trucks.  The issue was discussed and it was noted that there would be additional costs to make a used vehicle ready for use.  Discussion ensued as to how a Warrant Article would be worded to allow for what a used truck would cost at the time of purchase.  It was suggested by the Board that additional costs should be included in the amount that would be reflected in a Warrant Article.

4) The Board discussed the need for candidates to form a Cemetery Board of Trustees.  Chairman Donovan suggested we ask for the local newspaper reports if they would write something in their respective papers to this effect.  Candidates would be placed on the ballet for the March Town Elections.

5) Charles McGettigan attended the meeting to ask if the Board would support his request for the Building Inspector to inspect a property that could possibly be uninhabitable.  The Board agreed that it should be inspected.

6) The bills for the week ending January 7, 2007 were reviewed and approved.  The correspondence and informational material was reviewed.

7) The Board discussed the service contract for the town copy machine.  Selectman Glines suggested we look into the price of a new copier because the service contact is so high and we are having so many repairs to the old one.  Peggy will look into the cost of a new one.

8) The Board reviewed and signed:

1-Amended 2005 tax bill
2-Abatment of bill in error
3-2 Notice of Lien
4-Current Use Release Form

The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 8:45, with all in favor.

Respectfully submitted;

Peggy Arn, Recording Secretary
