MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING

Present:  Selectmen Daniel Donovan, III, Jerry Greene and Richard Rockwood
  Town Assessor Todd Hayward and Recording Secretary Peggy Arn

A special meeting was posted and called to order by Chairman Donovan.  The meeting was to discuss the Label Art 2005 Property Tax appeal.  Todd informed the Board that he thought that the appraisal that Label Art had presented as a basis for their appeal should be reviewed by a Commercial Appraiser.  He then informed the Board that he had inspected the buildings and he thought that the appraisal was not valid.  A discussion ensued by the Board and Todd and it was concluded that a settlement would be offered to Label Art in the amount of $1,300,000.  If the settlement is not accepted, then a Commercial Appraiser might have to be consulted if the town had to defend it’s assessment in court.

It was also noted that this would only affect the 2005 assessment because the town will be doing an update of value as of 4/1/2006.

The meeting was adjourned on a motion with all in favor at 4:30 pm.
