TOWN OF WILTON
SELECTMEN’S MINUTES

Date:  August 27, 2007
Time:  7:00 pm
Place:  Town Office
Present: Selectmen Jerry Greene and Daniel Donovan, III  and Recording Secretary Peggy Arn

1) Evelyn Healey of Island Street informed the Board that she had requested that handicap signs be put up on Island Street.  She made the request because she is concerned that motorists travel Island Street at excessive speeds and there are a few people that live on the street that are disabled in some way.  She has received an application for special signs from the Department of Transportation but she believes that it would only be for the part of the street in front of her home.  She asked the Board to write a letter asking for the special signs be placed at both ends of Island. Street.  The Board stated that they would write a letter of support.

2) Road Agent Steve Ellott attended the meeting to give an update on the sidewalk project and to answer any question the Selectmen had.  One question was why the crosswalk from the side of the fire station to the post office was changed.  Steve stated that the reason for moving it was to move pedestrians past the fire station which would make crossing the street less dangerous.  The other crosswalks on Main Street will be raised with 6 feet grade on each side making people more visible to motorists.

3) The Board reviewed the correspondence and informational material.

4) The payroll and bills were reviewed and approved.

5) The Board approved and signed a certification for a new part-time Police Officer.

The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 8:30 pm, with all in favor.

Respectfully Submitted;

Peggy Arn, Recording Secretary
