TOWN OF WILTON
SELECTMEN’S MINUTES

Date:  September 14, 2009
Time:  6:30 pm
Place:  Town Office
Present: Selectmen Daniel Donovan, III and William Condra and Recording Secretary Peggy Arn

Maurice Guay attended the meeting to discuss Recycling Center operation.  He is concerned that the Routhier Company that takes the tires is now going to impose a monthly charge for their container used to store the tires until it is filled.  This could be several months.  He is now going to use a trailer that he has and transfer the tires when it is time to ship them to the Routhier Company.  The Board agreed that this would work.

Tax Collector Jane Farrell then attended the meeting.  She gave a report of properties up for deeding and asked the Board to approve the list.

Motion:  Selectman Donovan made a motion to deed parcels:  F-020, L-050 and M-045-01.  Two remaining parcels in question, F-061 and J-085 will be voted on at next meeting.

Selectman Condra seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Brian Adams attended the meeting to discuss the cost of a burial the Board voted on at the August 10, 2009 meeting.  The price had been set at $300 for a regular burial or a cremation.  Brian asked if they would reconsider and set the price of cremation burial at $125.

Motion:  Selectman Condra made a motion that the motion passed on August 10, 2009 be Revised to read:  $300 charge for a regular burial and $125 for a cremation burial, be it on a weekday, weekend or holiday.  Selectman Donovan seconded the motion which passed with all in favor.

Brian expressed his concern about being a Cemetery Trustee and a Town Employee.   The Board assured him that this should not be a problem and they were two distinct positions.

The Board then discussed a request from Janet Martin to reduce a Current Use Penalty Tax assessment.  She asked that the assessment of $10,500 be lowered based on an appraisal that had been done earlier this year by Mr. Rockwood.  The Board discussed the issue, which resulted in the following motion:

Motion:  Selectman Condra made a motion to reduce the assessment of $10,500 to $9,500
which would result in a Current Use Exiting Penalty Tax of $9,500.00.  Selectman Donovan seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

The Board signed:

Bills for the week ending September 12, 2009
Payroll for the week ending September 12,  2009
Revised MS-1
Revised Current Use Change Tax Form

The next Selectmen’s meeting will be September 28, 2009 and then every week starting the first of October.

The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 7:50 pm with all in favor.

Respectfully submitted;

Peggy Arn, Recording Secretary
