Cemetery Trustee Doreece Miller informed the Board that she was at the meeting to discuss the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She informed the Board that two meetings with the Diocese Attorney John Sullivan were held but now she could not get any response from them. They had agreed that the town would be reimbursed for the maintenance of the cemetery, the Trustees would have the authority from the Church to sell lots and that a deed would be given to them to use when selling a lot. Attorney Sullivan told the Trustees that a person did not have to be a Catholic to be buried at Mt. Calvary but it seems that the deed they were given to use is not in agreement with this statement. She was therefore, asking the Board’s direction on how to handle the issue. After a discussion, the Board agreed that Chairman Donovan would get in touch with Attorney Sullivan to discuss the issues and report back to the Cemetery Trustees.
Dawn Tuomala, Glen and Julie Shaw of G.W. Shaw & Son, Inc. of New Ipswich attended the meeting. They wanted to know what the direction of the recycling was going because they would like a chance to bid on the hauling. They also stated that they could get a compactor from them if they should decide to use one. The Board assured them that they would go to bid for the hauling when a decision was made.
The question of signing a three-year contract with the Audit Firm of Roberts, Greene & Drolet was discussed. Selectman Rockwood stated that he would like to see the contract read that it would depend on funding. Mr. Donovan will compose something and the issue will be discussed again next week.
The bills and payroll for the week ending October 10, 2009 were reviewed and signed. The Board signed a revised MS5 to be submitted to Department of Revenue.
The correspondence and informational material was reviewed.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion, with all in favor, at 7:20 pm.
Respectfully submitted;
Peggy Arn, Recording Secretary
