Conservation Commission Minutes for the meeting of April 7, 2002.
Present: Spencer Brookes, Andrew LeFrançois, Les Tallarico, and Doreece Miller
7:00 Business Meeting
1. Minutes of 11MAR02 accepted.
2. Spencer-chair again for one more year. Andrew-secretary
for the year.
3. Spencer spoke about the town having the largest white
ash in the state.
4. Les showed us a map that he had put together on the
soil types of Carnival Hill; both current and potential holdings.
5. We spoke about membership to the WCC and how many
people could be a part of the commission.
6. Discussed the well walk for 10APR02 at 2:30PM.
Discussed visiting the nine wells along the baseball field and the three
(maybe four) other wells on the school property.
7. Discussed the meeting for 10APR02 at 10:00AM to go
over the Land & Water for Carnival Hill.
8. Zoning & Land Use Changes: the potential Shell
Station on route 101 (cornfield location)
a. Concerns about the project:
-want more information about the project
-possible aquifer contamination
-problem: once a gas station on the property the property
is “potentially contaminated” and therefore hard to resell.
-possibly talk to Monadnock Spring Water about how they
feel about the project.
9. Discussed the Carnival Hill Report & the LCHIP
Timeline
a. ran through and discussed the initial timeline Spencer
put together.
10. Spencer mentioned that he had posted a sign on the
lower portion of Carnival Hill stating that the land had been purchased
via a Land & Water Grant.
11. Souhegan Watershed & LAC Meeting
a. Discussed Helen Dalbeck’s concerns about H2O and possible
contamination into H2O shed.
b. Discussed possibly looking at the Horseshoe property
for future considerations of land in need for conservation.

12. Discussed the joint meeting of the WCC, MCC, and
LCC on 1APR02 and clarified that the date of the next meeting would be
3JUN02.
13. Spoke about two complaints on Lots: D-093 (River
Rd. Trust) and D-091 (Town of Wilton). Also received Forestry Notifications
for Lots: E-039, E-040, and E-046.
14. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 13MAY02
at 7:00PM at the Town Hall.
