Present: Spencer Brookes, Andrew LeFrançois, and Les Tallarico; plus 10 persons concerned with the Stoney Brook Watershed Area
7:00 Business Meeting
1. Approved the minutes from the last meeting.
2. Discussed the State of New Hampshire’s Invasive Species Listings and how we might go about making these species known to the public.
3. Looked at and discussed ways of locating and preserving Wilton’s open grasslands (fields); primary goal is to obtain appropriate maps.
4. Discussed the Souhegan River Associations findings of high pollution (e. coli) content in the river; questions raised: where was the exact site of sampling, is there a septic leak somewhere at this sample site, and could this be in some manner related to the “dirty pipe” on the south side of the river across from Label Art?
5. Spencer showed us the Citizen Natural Resource Inventory Summery Sheet that he has compiled from returned Natural Resource Inventory Data Sheets.
6. Discussed the finalizing of the Carnival Hill property sale.
7. Discussed the need to check on the probable new sight of a road on the Parker property; Lot B-036.
8. Discussed the gravel pits on RT 31; Approved the Quinn Bros. (Lot E-19 and E-20) but found a problem with the Crawford Pit (Lot E-23).
9. Discussed and concluded that the W.C.C. would encourage the Town of Wilton to find out which way the flow of recharge is for the town’s aquifer in case of any potential light or heavy pollution of the said aquifer occurs from the proposed SHELL station on route 101 site.
10. Discussed that the W.C.C. is only able to be concerned with any ecological damage at the A&T timber cutting site; but that if culverts properly placed at the site would be an ecological sensible solution. Also concluded that no wetlands violations have occurred currently at this site.
11. Acknowledged that the W.C.C. has been notified by Arlene Allen of the New Hampshire D.E.S. that wetlands violations have occurred on Lot E-21 and asks us for monitoring of said property.
12. Discussed that the W.C.C. would like to meet with the W.Z.B.A. and should, at the warrant article level, come up with regulations and limitations of future logging roads placed in Wilton.
13. Discussed that the W.C.C. would like to meet with the Water Commissioners and address the issue of town aquifer protection for both Route 31S and Davisville areas.
14. Met with 10 abutters of Stoney Brook Watershed Area (Lots B-11, and B-12) and discussed their concerns of potential pollutions: water, sound, air, etc and the effects of these potential pollutants effects to their well water and the Stoney Brook watershed. The group then requested that the W.C.C. write a letter of support for an environmental impact study of the said area. The W.C.C. voted to approve this letter and voted to include the natural resource inventory document for the area that Spencer had drawn up prior to the meeting. Both votes were then passed. The W.C.C. then suggested to the group that they continue to do their own monitoring of their wells (both water flow and quality) and suggested that the Nashua Planning Board might be able to assist the group and W.C.C. in acquiring needed information for the above mentioned impact statement. The W.C.C. then voted to ask permission to walk the S.B.W.A. site(s). This vote was passed.
15. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 09SEP02 at 7:00PM at the
Town Hall.
