OLD BUSINESS
Bruce Lewis: McGettigan will ask him if there is any
grounding or lightning protection that can be done for the wells.
Don King, 181 Abbot Hill Road. Bruce Lewis looked at the
site and estimated a pump size that would serve 12 homes and estimated
the cost of 2” pipe to serve them at a total cost of about $100,000. Since
the actual request was for a system that could serve 3 – 5 homes, Tuttle
and Herlihy estimated that a smaller system might be able to be installed
for $65,000. This item was tabled for
now.
Old Chlorinator Bldg: McGettigan reported that the asbestos board has to be broken up into pieces and put into barrels and brought to the Recycling Center on Hazardous Waste Day next spring. Herlihy will contact the road agent to see if he can meet the commissioners at the old chlorinator site and possibly get a price for demolishing it.
Interior Tank Painting/Concrete Tank: McGettigan will contact Renee at Dufresne & Henry regarding cost estimate for an engineering study for placement of a concrete tank in the future. Tuttle reported that Underwater Solutions will inspect the tank again on Tuesday, October 2. Herlihy will contact Merithew Clerk of the Works to oversee the tank painting next summer and to get the bids started early.
Pennichuck (PWW): Herlihy reported that Bernie said the propane is down to 18% in the pump house. McGettigan said he will call and order the propane. Backflow Preventer Devices: Tuttle had a list from PWW of the testable backflow devices that they had tested. He listed additional businesses that may need them.
Reduced Salt Use Meeting Date: Tuttle said that the selectmen’s office has arranged for a public hearing on Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m.
Intervale Road Extension: McGettigan will get prices for 8” pipes & fittings for this job. Waiting for report – from June. McGettigan will contact Danforth Contracting regarding bidding for the job.
